HELP WITH YOUR FILES

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to help you choose a tool and finish your task.

Getting started

How do I use BriskFiles?

Choose a tool, review its supported formats and limits, then select your files. Adjust the available settings, run the task, and download the result. Keep your originals and check the output before sharing it.

Do I need an account or subscription?

The available tools are free to use and do not require an account or subscription.

Which tool should I choose?

Use Merge PDF to combine documents, Split PDF to extract pages, and JPG to PDF to turn images into a document. Search the tool directory by task or filter it to PDF or Images. Each tool explains what it can do.

Files and privacy

Are my files uploaded?

Selected documents and images are processed on your device, in your browser. BriskFiles does not upload them to a file-processing server. The site and its processing assets load over the network. Hosting and performance measurement involve website connection and usage information; see our Privacy policy for details.

What file types and sizes can I use?

Supported formats, file counts, and size limits vary by tool and appear before file selection. Processing capacity also depends on your browser and device. For large files, try fewer files or smaller batches.

What happens when I clear files or close the page?

Clear removes selections and results from the interface. Closing the page ends the processing session. Files you downloaded remain on your device until you remove them. Save results before leaving the page.

PDF capabilities

How does PDF compression work?

PDF compression is image-based: it renders pages as images in a new PDF. Text may no longer be selectable, and interactive features may be lost. A target size is an attempt, not a guarantee. Keep the original and review the result.

Does PDF to Word preserve the original layout?

PDF to Word extracts selectable text into a Word document. It does not preserve complex layouts or recognize text in scanned images. The separate OCR PDF tool recognizes English text, with results that may need correction.

Can I change existing PDF text with Edit PDF?

Edit PDF adds annotations such as text and shapes. It does not rewrite existing PDF text.

Can I unlock a PDF without its password?

Unlock PDF requires the document password. BriskFiles does not provide forgotten-password recovery. Other tools may require an unlocked copy and may reject forms or signed documents; follow the tool-specific guidance.

Do PDF tools preserve every document feature?

PDF operations may remove or change forms, bookmarks, attachments, signatures, and other interactive features. Visible signatures are image annotations, not certificate-based digital signatures. Always retain the original and inspect the exported file.

Troubleshooting and support

Why was my file rejected?

Check the supported format, file count, and size limits shown by the tool. A file can also be damaged, password-protected, or contain unsupported features. Renaming its extension does not convert it. Try opening the original in another viewer or exporting a fresh copy.

What should I do if processing fails?

Read the error message, check the tool limits, and try fewer files or smaller settings. Valid selections and settings remain available after processing errors so you can adjust and retry. Download any completed results before refreshing or closing the page.

Where is my downloaded file?

Check your browser downloads list and your device downloads folder. Your browser may ask you to choose a location or confirm multiple downloads. Download controls appear once output is available.

How can I get help or report a problem?

Use the Contact support form or email [email protected] with the tool name, browser, device, and the error message or steps that caused the problem. Avoid sending confidential documents or images.

Who operates BriskFiles?
